Talladega National Forest Burn Notice – March 14, 2018

SHARE NOW

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Talladega National Forest – Talladega Ranger District is planning to burn 1,352 acres today, 15 miles south of Talladega and 5 miles east of Sylacauga.

Forest Service Road 675 and Hwy. 148 form portions of this burn boundary and should be traveled with caution. During Wednesday’s burn, the public will notice Forest Service fire crews and equipment. Smoke will be visible on Hwy. 148, County Road 7 and Hwy. 21.

The wind is expected to be out of the northwest and carry the smoke to the south towards Goodwater and Pickneyville. As temperatures cool later today, the smoke may begin to settle down Bill Creek drainages. Some settling may also occur around the general area of the burn. Signs will be posted of needed.

Remember, a prescribed burn is a controlled fire ignited by professionally trained and experienced Forest Service personnel. A prescribed burn is carefully planned to improve the health of your national forest. If you have any questions, please contact the Talladega National Forest Fire Dispatch at (334) 241-8105.
