SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga churches and community members rallied together in a Prayer Walk at Sylacauga High School on Tuesday to shed light on recent events facing the high school.

About one hundred people walked around SHS lifting up prayers and positive thoughts for half an hour.

“We came together to pray for the school and administration that pride, racism, and hatred would be set aside and God would be glorified,” said Jeff Wood, a parent.

“We are just a group of several local churches that came together to pray,” said Rick Deerman, Mignon Baptist Church Pastor.

A second walk is scheduled for Thursday, October 6, at Sylacauga High School beginning at 6:30 a.m. Students, school staff, and the community are invited to attend to pray over the issues facing Sylacauga.
