COOSA COUNTY, Ala. – In a Facebook post on Friday, March 9, the Coosa County Sheriff’s Department announced they responded to threats made against the Coosa County School System.
The Coosa County Sheriff’s Department in conjunction with Coosa County High School Officials launched an investigation after School Resource Officer, Cpl. Brad Moon, was made aware of an alleged threat against the Coosa County School System on March 8.
Friday morning, the student who allegedly made the threat was intercepted and taken into custody upon entering the school grounds by Cpl. Moon. The student was immediately isolated from the other children and found to have no weapon on or around his person. The ongoing investigation resulted in a 17-year-old high school student being taken into custody and processed into the Coosa County Juvenile Court System for charges of “Making a Terrorist Threat.”
The safety and security of students and school staff is of utmost priority according to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office. CCSO says it is important for students and parents to immediately report threats to law enforcement so a proper investigation can be conducted.
