The Daily Home to cease publication on Tuesdays

SHARE NOW

TALLADEGA, Ala. – One year after it began charging for access to its website in an effort to boost revenue, The Daily Home on Wednesday began advising customers it will cease publication of its printed Tuesday edition after Feb. 27. Sister publication The Anniston Star will also become a Wednesday-through-Sunday-only newspaper.

In the memo from the company, the Board of Directors of Consolidated Publishing decided to cease printing for a second weekday. The company stated many factors were involved, but specifically noted revenue and expense concerns were at the forefront of the decision.

The full statement to customers is stated below:

Dear Valued Customer,

After careful review of the many factors involved in the production of a daily newspaper, from both the revenue and expense standpoints, the Board of Directors of Consolidated Publishing has decided to eliminate the print edition of the Tuesday Anniston Star and Daily Home.

The analysis that led the Board to this decision included the total advertising revenue from all sources in our Tuesday publications, circulation revenue, and all of the various expenses to print , ship and package our product along with a significant increase in the cost of newsprint over the past few months, made the decision a necessity.

After the final Tuesday print edition of February 27th. we will transition to a 5-day printed publication which will be Wednesday through Sunday.

We greatly appreciate our partnership with our customers and will continue to provide our readers and advertisers alike with the best local news coverage and distribution available.
