SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Talladega Ranger District is planning to burn 600 acres today, 15 miles west of Talladega and 4 miles east of Sylacauga.
Forest Service Rd. 675 and Hwy. 148 form portions of the burn boundary and should be traveled with caution. Smoke may be visible from Hwy. 148. CR 7 and Hwy. 21.
The wind is expected to carry smoke south towards Goodwater and Pickneyville. As temperatures cool later today, smoke may begin to settle down Bill Creek drainages. Signs will be posted if needed. If encountering smoke, please slow down, turn on your low-beam lights and use caution when encountering burning operations.
Remember, a prescribed burn is a controlled fire ignited by professionally trained and experienced Forest Service personnel.
