TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office stated it has received complaints from the public in regards to being contacted by someone pretending to be a Talladega County Sheriff Deputy.
Sgt. Mike Jones stated in the post the scammers are ordering certain residents to purchase a Green Dot MoneyPak card, or a reloadable debit card, and provide them with the number on the card in order to collect payment. The scammers claim payment is due for an outstanding debt or fine, and an arrest warrant would be issued if payment is not made.
Sheriff Kilgore would like to remind the public the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office does not conduct phone call solicitations for funds.
