WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following a city wide send-off celebration last Wednesday, the Talladega College Great Tornado Band performed in the Inaugural Parade in the nation’s capitol after President Donald J. Trump was sworn into office on Friday.

Less than 48 hours after the band’s performance, President of Talladega College, Billy C. Hawkins, was invited into the White House. Hawkins accepted the invitation from the White House, and made his visit on Sunday, Jan. 22.

During his visit, Hawkins was allowed to attend meetings and a reception. Hawkins said the experience was overwhelming, and he appreciated the invitation.

In a press release Hawkins said the visit was a great opportunity which allowed him to see how the White House functions and operates. Hawkins left the visit pleased, and said he is “very encouraged about a positive future for HBCU’s all across the country.”
