Sylacauga High School begins “#WeAreFamily” Campaign

SHARE NOW

SYLACAUGA, Ala. — After a tense two weeks, Sylacauga High School appears to be at a turning point in student relations. Early Friday morning, school administration revealed a campaign for students to get involved in: #WeAreFamily. Students, faculty, and administrators were encouraged to post photos with the hashtag to demonstrate the family atmosphere at Sylacauga High School. Brand new Twitter and Instagram accounts were created to re-post photos shared by students.

Art students at Sylacauga High made four banners with the tag #WeAreFamily. Each banner was placed in a high-traffic area throughout the school for students to sign. After the first three class blocks, all four banners were full of student signatures demonstrating the school’s family atmosphere.

While the student body is still healing from earlier incidents, most students will agree this campaign is a step in the right direction.

Senior quarterback Jackson Walker said the settling of tensions has allowed all players to become more focused on a critical regional football game against Valley tonight.

Current students, parents, alumni, and the entire Sylacauga community are encouraged to participate in the campaign. Photos demonstrating the family atmosphere of Sylacauga High School should be tagged with #WeAreFamily. The official Twitter and Instagram handle for the campaign is @SylacaugaHS.
