Sylacauga City Council proposed agenda – July 17, 2018

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet tomorrow, July 17, at Sylacauga City Hall.

The Following items are on the Council’s agenda:

  • Fire Chief Adam Gardner to introduce newly promoted lieutenants – Ron Machen, Don Blair, and Nate Osgood.
  • Ordinance 2199-18 adopting new Sign Ordinance.
  • Resolution 54-2018 authorizing disposal of 1995 Ford F250 Pickup, S/N 1FTHF26HOSNA88578 (repairs exceed value of truck) as recommended by Street Supt. Reed Calfee and Shop Supt. Ed Ford.
  • Resolution 55-2018 authorizing Change Order #1 to Comer Ball Field Lighting and Electrical Upgrade, adding Alternate #1 for Scoreboard upgrade in the amount of $10,000 (Parks and Rec has secured funding for project).
  • Resolution 56-2018 authorizing agreement between the City, Pyro Productions and the Chamber of Commerce to use City-owned property located on Main Ave. (former Food World property) for a fireworks production event on July 21 9:00 pm.  Authorization for Mayor to sign agreement.
  • Resolution 57-2018 amending board appointment procedures.
  • Authorization to apply for up to three grants through the Alabama Historical Commission.  Grants to benefit the Marble City Cemetery, Comer Museum, and Historical Commission’s activities. Deadline is Aug. 15.
  • Approval of financial statements from Oct. 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018 as presented to Council during work session July 3.
  • Recommendation from Tree Commission, at the request of Sylacauga City Schools, to have Street Department remove trees in front of Sylacauga High School along Broadway Ave.
  • Recommendation from Tree Commission to allow Sylacauga Utilities Board to remove seven trees from city-owned property on Hwy. 21 North.
  • Accept resignation of Michael Adair from Commercial Development Authority and declare seat vacant.
  • Authorize expenditure for two employees to attend Leadership Sylacauga.
  • Authorization for City Clerk Patricia Carden to enter the Alabama City/County Management Association’s certificate program and approve expenses to attend the Leadership and Effective Public Management course November 15-16, 2018 in Auburn.  Registration fee is $195.  Additional expenses for lodging, meals, and mileage will be incurred. Total estimated expenses for Carden are $599.
  • Authorization for Administrative Assistant Kim Morris to enter the Alabama City/County Management Association’s certificate program and approve expenses to attend Leadership and Effective Public Management course Nov. 15-16, 2018 in Auburn.  Registration fee is $195.  Additional expenses for lodging and meals will be incurred.  Morris and Carden will carpool.  Total estimated expenses for Morris are $524.
  • Balance of Accounts Payable received for June in the amount of $629,601.30.
  • June payroll in the amount of $561,331.08.
