Sylacauga CIty Council proposed agenda – Jan. 18, 2018

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga City Council will meet on Thursday, Jan. 18.

The official meeting will begin at 6 p.m., following a scheduled 5 p.m. work session.

Here is the council’s proposed agenda for the meeting:

  1. Ordinance authorizing execution of Redevelopment Reimbursement Agreement and Warrant with Second Street of Sylacauga, LLC for former Kmart building.
  2. Ordinance authorizing Mayor to execute easement and approval of use agreement with Allen Sanders to use a portion of the sidewalk behind 201 N Broadway Avenue to install a balcony, if ready.
  3. Resolution setting date for public hearing for request to rezone property located at 500 E Ft. Williams Street from M-1 to M-2 (location of the former Budweiser plant). Recommendation from Planning Commission after public hearing held 1-4-18. (First available date for public hearing is Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018.)
  4. Request from Street Supt. Reed Calfee to enter into contract with Kellis Vegetation Management, Inc. to provide fire ant control on eight acres at Sylacauga Airport at a cost of $150 per acre at a total cost of $1,200.
  5. Recommendation from Interim Chief Adam Gardner to accept low bid, meeting all bid requirements, from Emergency Equipment Professionals in the amount of $39,850 for a Stationary Breathing Air Compressor Station.
  6. Request from Police Chief Kelley Johnson to extend probation period for Officer Kyle Smith for an additional three months.
  7. Request from Interim Fire Chief Adam Gardner to hire Robert Osbourn at Pay Grade PSF-1, Step 1, due to qualifications and prior firefighter certification, effective Dec. 11, 2017.
  8. Approve expenses for HR Specialist Jayne McGee to attend Legal Foundations of Risk Management in Montgomery February 23, 2018. Registration fee is $150.00; additional expenses for a meal and mileage will be incurred. Estimated expenses for McGee are $235.20.
  9. Approve expenses for Police SRO David Kimbrough to attend the TASSRO Training Conference in Orange Beach, Al June 3-8, 2018. Registration fee is $395; additional expenses for lodging in the amount of $1,214.75, fuel for a city vehicle estimated at $100, and meals estimated at $200.00 will be incurred. Estimated expenses for Kimbrough are $1,909.75 to be paid from SRO funds.
  10. Approve expenses for Police Lt. Renea Cummings to attend the TASSRO Training Conference in Orange Beach June 3-8, 2018. Registration fee is $395; additional expenses for lodging in the amount of $1,214.75, fuel for a city vehicle estimated at $100, and meals estimated at $200 will be incurred. Estimated expenses for Cummings are $1,909.75 to be paid from SRO funds.
  11. Approve expenses for Police SRO Harry Brown to attend the TASSRO Training Conference in Orange Beach June 3-8, 2018. Registration fee is $200.00; additional expenses for lodging in the amount of $1,214.75, fuel for a city vehicle estimated at $100.00, and meals estimated at $200.00 will be incurred. Estimated expenses for Brown are $1,714.75 to be paid from SRO funds.
  12. Approve expenses for Firefighter Nate Osgood to attend Fire Inspector II classes February 5-9, 2018 in Westover. There is no registration fee. Osgood has requested a total of 18 hours’ time off with pay.
  13. Balance of Accounts Payable for December in the amount of $392,796.33.
  14. December payroll in the amount of $570,782.47.
