SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Congressman Mike Rogers visited Sylacauga High School today to present a Congressional Record Statement to the basketball team.

Rogers wanted to honor the team for its win in the 5A basketball state championship.

Rogers said he presented the Congressional Record Statement so the team would know how special this accomplishment is.

“They work a long time to be able to do this, and not many kids can finish their high school career and say they were part of a state championship team,” said Rogers. “That’s why we make the extra trouble to get the resolution done. Not just get it done and send it to them, I want to personally come and draw attention to the fact that this is an incredible accomplishment that they should be very proud of. Hopefully, it will incentivize other kids to work hard because people recognize their work and what they’ve achieved.”
