SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga City Schools Superintendent Todd Freeman and Talladega County Superintendent Suzanne Lacey are set to give their State of the Schools Address on Thursday at the Lunch and Learn Expo presented by the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce.

This will not be a normal Chamber luncheon. Instead of a businesses setting up products for consumers, students and school programs will set up exhibits presenting what their particular program does.

Sylacauga Chamber Marketing Director Laura Strickland told SylacaugaNews.com this will be a great opportunity for members of the community to experience exactly what happens in the local schools.

Superintendents will give their speeches following the student expo and lunch. Freeman said he plans to speak on a variety of topics including strategic plans for the future, test scores, and the positive things he sees happening in his school system including college and career preparation.

Although Freeman would prefer to highlight the positives, he also plans on speaking about the challenges that are familiar to many across the nation who are affiliated with public schools. According to Freeman, this event will allow members of the community to learn about the investments they are making as taxpayers in the local school systems.

The student program expo will begin at 11 with a lunch following at 11:45. Superintendents are set to speak at noon.
