Local students earn scholarships from the National Pawnbrokers Association

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Three local students both in or preparing for post-secondary education have received a $1,000 scholarship from the National Pawnbrokers Association to aid in pursuing their educational dreams.

Josie Williams (left) is the daughter of Darrell Williams and Telesa & Walt Sanders. She is a 2018 graduate of Fayetteville High School  She graduated among the top of her class with many honors. She participated in many clubs including FBLA and was on the FHS volleyball team. Josie was involved in the community by being a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador and also an ambassador at her school. Her plans are to attend Auburn University this fall where she will major in Agriculture Business and Economics.

Haley Bobbit (middle) is the daughter of Lee and Brooke Bobbitt and Jaye & Ron Machen. She is a 2018 graduate of Sylacauga High School where she was an active member of FBLA, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Freelancer’s and a member of the SHS volleyball team. Also, during her high school career, Haley accumulated over 100 hours of community service while maintaining a 3.8 GPA. She plans to attend the Opelika campus of Southern Union State Community College this fall.

Savannah Garris (right) is the daughter of Steve and Jane Garris. Savannah is a 2016 graduate of Fayetteville High School and a 2018 graduate of Central Alabama Community College. Savannah also works two part time jobs while pursuing her dream of a degree in Elementary Education. She will begin classes this fall at the University of Montevallo.
