CHILDERSBURG, Ala.- Happy birthday Childersburg! For 20-plus years America’s longest occupied city has celebrated its birthday with Coosa Fest, and this year the celebration is set to impress everyone who visits according to the man who planned it all, Tom Roberts.
“We have put a lot of time and effort into this project to make it something the public will be excited about,” stated Roberts. “I think people will be thoroughly impressed with the growth of this event compared to last year.”
Roberts told SylacaugaNews.com the evnt will be twice as big as last year when comparing the amount of space the event will cover. Coosa Fest 477 will completely engross 7th and 8th avenues and 2nd and 3rd streets, and the entire area around City Hall will be filled with fun and events as well.
What are those events?
City Hall will host the car show. Roberts said he expects many classic cars, trucks and motorcycles to be on display. One of the areas Roberts is most proud of is the Kids Zone which will be hosted on 7th Ave. which will be completely filled with inflatables There will also be pony rides, petting zoos and all sorts of fun games and activities for the children. “I am most excited for this year because there is something for both young and older people,” stated Roberts. “It really makes a big difference”
The area the event will cover has increased the amount of vendors that will be at Coosa Fest. According to Roberts, around 70 vendors will be at the event providing food, drinks and anything else you would want at the celebration.
The festival will also have a positive economic impact on the city. Roberts said the money spent on hotel rooms, at restaurants and retail stores goes a long way in helping Childersburg. “That’s the exciting part,” said Roberts, “We always try to create the attitude of and mindset of people thinking about Childersburg when they want a place to go and do something exciting.”
