Childersburg Council meeting report – June 19, 2019

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council met on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:00 p.m..

The meeting saw the following actions:

A Proclamation was read regarding Phyllis Wheatley High School.Celebrating the legacy and acknowledging the history of the historic Childersburg school which closed its doors in 1970, the Proclamation announces the 34th Grand Reunion of the Westside/Drewry Alumni Association, to be held June 29 through July 1.

The Council approved an ABC Lounge Retail Liquor License for Pure Cigar Lounge (James Carter), located at 31870 US Highway 280.

Approval was given to a request to send Christian White and Aaron Lindow to the Northeast Alabama Police Academy training as full time Police Officers. The Council later approved the hiring of Patrol Officer Tim Dyson at a pay rate of $13.15 as a full-time officer.

The Council approved a Fire Department request to hire Shawn Parrett Paramedic/Firefighter on a full-time, permanent basis at a pay rate of $12.96.

Approval was made for a Parks & Recreation Department request for Anthony Murphy to attend ARPA fall workshop including registration, lodging, travel and per diem, September 18-20, in Orange Beach, Alabama. The Council also approved Lt. Kevin Koss to attend a two day training in Foley for Child Abduction Investigation.

The Council approved an Administration request to increase the City Clerk/Treasurer salary by $600 per month.

Payment of invoices was approved in the amount of $100,346.13.

The next regular meeting will be held on July 3rd, at 6:00 p.m.
