The library will open at 8:30 a.m. six days a week, closing at 6:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 5:00 p.m. on Fridays, and 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
“We are excited to offer hours that will provide more access for our community,” Thomas said.
In addition to a vast collection of books, magazines, and newspapers, the library offers adult programs, public access computers and wireless internet, a genealogy resource room, programs for children, audio books, reference tools, interlibrary loan services, photocopy services, meeting rooms, and fax/scanning services.
The library was founded in 1936 as the Sylacauga Public Library and, in its current location across from the Municipal Complex, was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
