SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the 2018 Leadership Sylacauga class.
The program begins in August and concludes with graduation in May. Participants will be exposed to all working aspects of the city, including education, healthcare, government, and quality of life, and to opportunities to help identify and strengthen leadership skills.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to bring together individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who have demonstrated talent and commitment for leadership,” said executive director Laura Strickland. “This experience gives participants a broader understanding of the opportunities, challenges, and resources found within our community in hopes of strengthening their commitment to the progress and growth of Sylacauga while at the same time expanding on their personal leadership skills.”
Participants will usually meet on the fourth Thursday of each month for 10 months.
To date, some 600 people have graduated from Leadership Sylacauga. The program, which began 26 years ago, was established to identify and engage upcoming local business and industry leaders.
Applications are available from the Chamber, must be submitted by August 1, and will be reviewed for eligibility by August 10. Tuition and fees can be paid by the sponsor or the individual.
