Sylacauga Civitan Club will host a benefit yard sale on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on the corner of Broadway and First Street. Monies earned will be used to fund a $500 scholarship, build wheelchair ramps, and fund projects for special needs children and adults in the community. A portion of the funds will also be donated to The ARC, Camp ASCCA and the UAB Civitan International Research Center.
Civitan International is a non-profit, volunteer service organization based in Birmingham. It is dedicated to serving individual and community needs with clubs across the U.S. and more than 49 countries worldwide; these members have an emphasis on supporting people with developmental disabilities. The flagship project of Civitan International is the Civitan International Research Center at UAB which conducts research on conditions like autism, cerebral palsy, brain and spinal cord injuries.
